It is some where in 8th or 9th results of half yearly exam result process was started and our teachers wear distributing our answer sheets with marks obtained. Since I was sharing bench with him we wear comparing our marks . Initially I was ahed with some marks but when marks of science started pouring in he surpassed me with handsome margin.His reaction on it was very impressive and polite.He sad don’t worry Ajit better luck next time.Insted of teasing me he encouraged me.This remains in my mind even after more than 45 years . I am delighted to see myself as star of the week and would like to take this opportunity to reconnect with you all.

Friends, let me take you through my journey post our matriculation in 1975. I failed to get enough marks to get admission in VRCE/LIT by a whisker. Pursued BSC in (then called PCM) @ Institute of Science and successfully completed my degree, there in 1978. Managed to perform reasonably well to secure admission in Madras Institute of Technology for a degree course in “Instrumentation” discipline.

During the tenure from 1975 – 1978 @ Institute of Science college, had the privilege of meeting our friend SK who had taken admission in Stats discipline of the BSC chapter. I was of course part of the music group there as I used to play flute as well as Tabla. I remember SK had sung “Naino Me Badra Chaye” during one of the annual functions. From 1978 onwards till 1981 I did B.Tech course and then joined Tata Power as GET with a stipend of Rs. 850 pm. Was so happy with that sum and had the great feeling of joining the elite Tata group @ Chembur plant in Mumbai.

Then came the year 1985, another milestone year. When I got married to Ruta from Dombivli (Kande – Pohe pattern). We settled down in Chembur, in the township of Tata Power which was an experience of staying In a hill station, it is that green.

Stayed there till 2010 after which bought a flat in Thane where we are staying, enjoying the retired life with our granddaughter. I will come back tomorrow again with some more intro. Looks like Resume, isn’t it? Never mind. Tomorrow I will add some colours to the intro.

पाचवी ते अकरावी तब्बल सात वर्ष ज्या शाळेत आपण घडवले गेलो त्या शाळेच्या वास्तूला आणि आपल्याला शिकवणारा शिक्षक वर्गाला शतशः प्रणाम.

कदाचित माझ्या ह्या विधानाने मला चार वाक्य लिहीता यावीत आपल्या मातृभाषेत अस वाटत. प्रयत्न करतो.

जेव्हा पासून ई -मेल हे माध्यम अस्तित्वात आल तेव्हापासून आपण पत्र लिहिण्यास पार विसरून गेलो. हस्ताक्षर सुधारण्यासाठी आपण केलेले प्रयत्न अगदी चांगले आठवतात. शाळेत दऊत – टाक वापरून कित्ता गिरवून हस्ताक्षर सुधारण्यासाठी खूप प्रयत्न केलेत आपण सगळ्यांनीच. मला त्याचा फार फायदा झाला हे मात्र खर.

तसा मी सगळ्या विषयात सर्व साधारणच. मुळात अबकड पासून सुरुवात झाली पहिली पासून. पाचवी पासून ABCD आणि आठवी पासून थेट इंग्रजी माध्यम. त्यामुळे जरा सगळं कठीणच वाटायच. गिरीश, राजीव काळीकर, राजा पारखी, दिनेश, सुचेता (आणि काही नावे कदाचित राहिली असावीत ) ह्यांचे नेहमीच चांगले गुण असायचे. आपण कधी चांगले गुण मिळवू शकणार असे नेहमी वाटायचे.

नववी नंतर जरा गुण बरे मिळायला लागले आणि अंगात बळ आले. शेवटी ११ वीत बर्यापैकी उत्तीर्ण झालो व पुढचा प्रवास सगळा सुरळीत पार पडला.

संगीताची आवड असात्या मुळे शाळेतल्या समुह गायनात सहभागी होत असे. पुढे दहावी -अकरावी मध्ये असतांना श्री अण्णासाहेब. गिलरकर सरांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली तबला शिकलो थोडा फार.

खूप छान वाटल अस सगळ लिहायला. आज एव्हढच. उद्या आणखी काही विचार मांडीन.

१९७५ साली हडस शाळेतून बाहेर पडल्यानंतर ज्यांना परत भेटू शकलो, त्या पैकी कुमार एक. आणि ते पण जवळपास ३२ वर्षांनंतर. वालचंद महाविद्यालयात आमच्या एका common मित्राच्या ५० व्या वाढदिवसाच्या कारणाने मुंबईतील नेव्ही च्या US club मध्ये. नंतर पण 2/3 वेळी भेट झाली.

कुमार हा शाळेपासून आठवतो तो अत्यंत शांत व शिस्तबद्ध म्हणूनच. मला कुमार ची एक आठवण अजूनही आहे ती म्हणजे आपले शिक्षक वर्गात आले की त्यांना अभिवादन करण्याची जबाबदारी त्याची होती व ती तो अत्यंत चोख पणे पार पाडत असे.

अजूनही तसाच शांत, अभ्यासू व शिस्तबद्ध असलेल्या कुमार व कुटुंबियांना भविष्यासाठी अनेक अनेक शुभेच्छा.🌹

Kumar ji welcome to the show. I recall meeting Kumar till he finished BSc off and on because of our common friend Girish Dandige. Then after almost 20 years I met him in Tata colony in Dec 2000 when I was visiting my mama who was Kumar’s colleague. He was on the way to the office so we didn’t talk much. The only thing I remember him saying is “ajun tula vaachayla chashma naahi laagat?” Well that was long time ago. However I am wearing the reading glasses as I type this message.😎. Good to reconnect Kumar. Wish you health and happiness.

शाळेत कुमार माझ्या समोर एक बाक सोडून बसायचा. नेहमी औत्सुक्य असणारा, पटकन प्रभावित होणारा, ज्यास्त excitement बाळगणारा कुमार मला चांगलाच आठवतो. इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ सायन्स मध्ये तो वेगळ्या सेक्शनला होता आणि एकच वर्ष बरोबर होता. तेव्हा त्याच्या तेथील उपक्रमाबद्दल फारसे माहीत नाही. पोपी कडून थोडेफार कळायचे. त्यावरून ती वर्षे त्याने चांगल्यापैकी एन्जॉय केली असावीत.

इन्स्टिट्यूट मध्ये असताना त्याचा इंजिीअरिंगमध्ये प्रवेश थोडक्यात चुकल्याची गोष्ट त्याने सांगितली होती ते आठवते. b.sc. नंतरही काहीतरी तांत्रिक कारणाने त्याचा प्रवेश हुकणार होता. पण तो मिळाला याची गोष्ट गेल्या भेटीत समजली.

राजीव काळीकर चा अपघाती मृत्यू झाला तेव्हा त्याने मला फोन केला होता. तेव्हा आम्ही (सुश्या आणि मी) भेटलो होतो. पण त्यानंतर आमचा संपर्क तुटला. त्यानंतर एक दिवशी मुंबई एअपोर्टवर एक माणूस मला येऊन भेटला. जो मला चेहऱ्याने ओळखत होता पण मी काही त्याला ओळखले नाही. तो म्हणजे गिरीश दंडीगे. त्याच्या कडून कुमारची हकीकत कळली. कुमार तेव्हा गुजरात मधील एका पॉवर प्लांटचा सीईओ झाला होता.

आता रिटायरमेंट नंतर तो ठाण्याला राहायला आला आहे. एकदा भेट झाली आहे आणि त्यावेळी खूप मजा आली. अशीच परत परत येत जावो ही ईच्छा.

Kumar is the one from this group who has longest uninterrupted association with me and my family after school.

We both were in Chembur since early 80s producing power and fertilizer. After we shifted to Alibag in 1992, our physical closeness reduced but had no impact on close family bonds that continued to flourish.

Our families were present in every special events on both sides. We have seen him maturing in professional and personal life. Though I don’t remember his Nagpur house, I remember all places he lived in Tata colony and Thane. Unfortunately missed Mundra.

I have many many close memories and can keep writing a lot about him.

We all know he is very nice human being, music lover and friend. He also has typical character that keeps everyone around him comfortable under any circumstances and he doesn’t do anything special for the same, it comes naturally for him, ditto as his mother.

He is true mama’s boy. Family bonding between his and his sisters’ families is exemplary. We have so far not discussed about our children on this group, but given the opportunity he has many proud moments to share. I am referring it, so you won’t miss on next meeting.

One important point, I wish he should share with our group is his own accomplished professional career with icing on the cake being his stint as head of Mundra unit.

As I said, I can keep writing but it is best everyone explore individually, special week on this group is only a window and a rejuvenating point in our friendship journey. I wish Kumar-Ruta a happy, healthy and blessed life. On behalf of our group special wishes for his musical journey.

अख्खा आठवडा तुम्हा सगळ्यांशी गप्पा मारण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. खूप छान वाटल. चाळीशी नंतर नीट दिसायला चश्मा लावून काम भागत परंतु आपल्या पंचेचाळीस वर्षा पूर्वीच्या आठवणी ज्याची उजळणी झाली नसते त्यांना बघण्याची किंवा वर आणण्याची क्षमता असलेले साधन अजूनतरी अस्तित्वात नसावं. आपल्या ह्या ग्रुप ची स्थापना करून ह्या मार्फत पुनश्च एकदा आपल्या सगळ्यांना एकत्र आणण्याचे काम प्रमोद, आशुतोष ती खूपच छान निभावलय.

विश्वास, मोहन,अविनाश,सुशील हितेंद्र,श्याम,दिनेश व इतर मंडळींनी ह्या ग्रुप ला निरंतर जाग ठेवल ह्या बद्दल त्यांचं कौतुक करावेसे वाटत. तुम्हा सगळ्यांचे खूप खूप आभार. जरा हा करोना निवळला कि आपण पुन्हा एकदा सगळे भेटूया.

आशुतोष नी माझी पत्नी ऋताला माझ्या बद्दल चार ओळी लिहाव्यात असा विचार मांडला. तो तिने चोख पार पाडला. तिने तर माझं भरपूर कौतुक केलय, अगदी तुम्ही केलत तस. त्या चार ओळी पाठवित आहे.

Hello all !

आशुतोष नी मला कुमार बद्दल लिहायला सांगितले . खर तर मला लिहायचा विशेष सराव नाही ( किंवा येत नाही म्हणणे योग्य ठरेल ) . परंतु कुमार बद्दलच्या भावना व्यक्त करण्या साठी ह्या संधीचा मी लाभ करून घेते.

1985 साली आमच्या सहजीवनाला सुरवात झाली .

कुमारचे थोडक्यात वर्णन करायचे म्हणजे – प्रेमळ, समंजस, हौशी नवरा ,आई – वडिलांची उत्तम काळजी घेणारा मुलगा, बहिणींच्या पाठीशी खंबीर पणे उभा राहणारा भाऊ. मित्र,नातेवाईक सगळयांना हवाहवासा वाटणारा ,समजून घेणारा आणि नेहमीच मदतीचा हात पुढे असणारा दिलदार व्यक्ती!

लग्नानंतर सुरवातीच्या काळात बऱ्याच अडचणी, संकटांचा सामना करावा लागला.बाबांचे छत्र देवाने खुप लवकर हिरावून घेतले . परंतु कुमारने खुप सामंजस्याने आणि समर्थपणे परिस्थिती हाताळली.

कुमारला बाबांकडून उत्तम संगीताचा वारसा लाभला आहे.संगीताची चांगली जाण आहे आणि तो स्वतः उत्कृष्ट तबला वादक आहे.

आमच्या मुलांनाही कुमारने नेहमी योग्य ते मार्गदर्शन केले परंतु निर्णय कधीही मुलांवर लादले नाही .आज आमची दोन्ही मुले यशस्वी उद्योजक आहेत.

कुमारने त्याच्या कंपनीतही स्वकर्तृत्वावर स्वतःचे स्थान निर्माण केले. वेळ – काळ न बघता कामात झोकून द्यायची वृत्ती,सगळ्यांना बरोबर घेऊन काम करणे ह्यामुळे ऑफिसमध्येही त्याने खुप मान मिळवला, लोकप्रियता मिळवली. ह्याचे अनुभव आम्ही बर्‍याचदा घेतले आहेत. कुमारचा प्रामाणिकपणा आणि मेहनत ह्या जोरावर तो कंपनीत CEO ह्या पदापर्यंत पोहचला .आत्तापर्यंत झाले नसेल असे सुंदर farewell त्याला मिळाले. तो अविस्मरणीय अनुभव होता.

असे बहुगुणी व्यक्तीमत्व असलेला नवरा मित्राच्या रुपात मला आयुष्याचा जोडीदार म्हणून मिळाला हे माझे खरोखरीच भाग्य!

आता आमची चार मुले ( मुलगा – सुन आणि लेक – जावई) आणि तीन नातवंड अशा आमच्या सुंदर परिवारा सोबत आमच उर्वरित आयुष्य आम्ही enjoy करीत आहोत.

Inspite of school bonding it becomes difficult to write about anyone in absence of any interactions of more than 40 years अनिलचे अध्याय व कुमार उवाच मालिका make things easy to know more about their achievements in life . That was the reason why I suggested Ruta to write about kumar.

My impression is confirmed by the photos. Our mtg at Pamya’s studio was almost after our school days,so many memories were cherished n lot of sharings alongside our friends.

Your carrier was exemplary n your continuous stay with TATA’s a very special and unique as these days we find most switching jobs for some reason or other.A true Tata man. We missed you at my house during a get-together in presence of narya n joined by dhanya,tilya,Dhamma,pamya etc.as you were travelling.

Soon we need meet along with friends on 🥃🥃🥃 once corona subsides to give a further boost to our association. Wishing you a very healthy n enjoyable life.

सलील – Kumar’s Son. After completing his B Com Started as an Investment Banker while pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst ( USA ) course. He had great love and passion for chess. After initial training in chess, he participated in numerous chess tournaments and won medals. Gradually, he started looking at Chess as his profession and was involved in chess training for kids and organizing chess events across India. One of the initial events he organized in 2008 witnessed 750 players.

He conceptualised the idea of bringing “chess in school”

Beginning with top schools in Mumbai & Bengaluru he stepped up his profession by creating a start up Upstep Academy at Andheri (www.upstepacademy.com). Today the academy caters to his vision to provide world class services in every aspect of Chess with a vision of training, conducting events, Leagues, Online playing besides creating champions in this field.

Salil always strived for Upstep to be a class apart, to project it to the global audience. Through his vast experience and network in the chess field, Salil played a pivotal role in on-boarding Viswanathan Anand for certifying all trainers and students of Upstep through online and offline events.

Upstep Academy now has 100+ employees and has catered to training more than 20000 students across the globe. Salil is the Secretary of ThaneDistrict Chess Association and was the founding member.

He also works with the core team of Maharashtra Chess Association in various roles to develop the game of chess in different parts of the state.

He is a key member for team selection and strategy of Pune True Masters – A franchise of Maharashtra Chess League (Viswanathan Anand and Aamir Khan have promoted the league).

Also worked with “Lakshya”, a professionally managed, non-profit organization which nurtures and promotes budding talent in the country, with a vision to achieve Olympic glory.

It is some where in 8th or 9th results of half yearly exam result process was started and our teachers wear distributing our answer sheets with marks obtained. Since I was sharing bench with him we wear comparing our marks . Initially I was ahed with some marks but when marks of science started pouring in he surpassed me with handsome margin.His reaction on it was very impressive and polite.He sad don’t worry Ajit better luck next time.Insted of teasing me he encouraged me.This remains in my mind even after more than 45 years . I am delighted to see myself as star of the week and would like to take this opportunity to reconnect with you all.

Friends, let me take you through my journey post our matriculation in 1975. I failed to get enough marks to get admission in VRCE/LIT by a whisker. Pursued BSC in (then called PCM) @ Institute of Science and successfully completed my degree, there in 1978. Managed to perform reasonably well to secure admission in Madras Institute of Technology for a degree course in “Instrumentation” discipline.

During the tenure from 1975 – 1978 @ Institute of Science college, had the privilege of meeting our friend SK who had taken admission in Stats discipline of the BSC chapter. I was of course part of the music group there as I used to play flute as well as Tabla. I remember SK had sung “Naino Me Badra Chaye” during one of the annual functions. From 1978 onwards till 1981 I did B.Tech course and then joined Tata Power as GET with a stipend of Rs. 850 pm. Was so happy with that sum and had the great feeling of joining the elite Tata group @ Chembur plant in Mumbai.

Then came the year 1985, another milestone year. When I got married to Ruta from Dombivli (Kande – Pohe pattern). We settled down in Chembur, in the township of Tata Power which was an experience of staying In a hill station, it is that green.

Stayed there till 2010 after which bought a flat in Thane where we are staying, enjoying the retired life with our granddaughter. I will come back tomorrow again with some more intro. Looks like Resume, isn’t it? Never mind. Tomorrow I will add some colours to the intro.

पाचवी ते अकरावी तब्बल सात वर्ष ज्या शाळेत आपण घडवले गेलो त्या शाळेच्या वास्तूला आणि आपल्याला शिकवणारा शिक्षक वर्गाला शतशः प्रणाम.

कदाचित माझ्या ह्या विधानाने मला चार वाक्य लिहीता यावीत आपल्या मातृभाषेत अस वाटत. प्रयत्न करतो.

जेव्हा पासून ई -मेल हे माध्यम अस्तित्वात आल तेव्हापासून आपण पत्र लिहिण्यास पार विसरून गेलो. हस्ताक्षर सुधारण्यासाठी आपण केलेले प्रयत्न अगदी चांगले आठवतात. शाळेत दऊत – टाक वापरून कित्ता गिरवून हस्ताक्षर सुधारण्यासाठी खूप प्रयत्न केलेत आपण सगळ्यांनीच. मला त्याचा फार फायदा झाला हे मात्र खर.

तसा मी सगळ्या विषयात सर्व साधारणच. मुळात अबकड पासून सुरुवात झाली पहिली पासून. पाचवी पासून ABCD आणि आठवी पासून थेट इंग्रजी माध्यम. त्यामुळे जरा सगळं कठीणच वाटायच. गिरीश, राजीव काळीकर, राजा पारखी, दिनेश, सुचेता (आणि काही नावे कदाचित राहिली असावीत ) ह्यांचे नेहमीच चांगले गुण असायचे. आपण कधी चांगले गुण मिळवू शकणार असे नेहमी वाटायचे.

नववी नंतर जरा गुण बरे मिळायला लागले आणि अंगात बळ आले. शेवटी ११ वीत बर्यापैकी उत्तीर्ण झालो व पुढचा प्रवास सगळा सुरळीत पार पडला.

संगीताची आवड असात्या मुळे शाळेतल्या समुह गायनात सहभागी होत असे. पुढे दहावी -अकरावी मध्ये असतांना श्री अण्णासाहेब. गिलरकर सरांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली तबला शिकलो थोडा फार.

खूप छान वाटल अस सगळ लिहायला. आज एव्हढच. उद्या आणखी काही विचार मांडीन.

१९७५ साली हडस शाळेतून बाहेर पडल्यानंतर ज्यांना परत भेटू शकलो, त्या पैकी कुमार एक. आणि ते पण जवळपास ३२ वर्षांनंतर. वालचंद महाविद्यालयात आमच्या एका common मित्राच्या ५० व्या वाढदिवसाच्या कारणाने मुंबईतील नेव्ही च्या US club मध्ये. नंतर पण 2/3 वेळी भेट झाली.

कुमार हा शाळेपासून आठवतो तो अत्यंत शांत व शिस्तबद्ध म्हणूनच. मला कुमार ची एक आठवण अजूनही आहे ती म्हणजे आपले शिक्षक वर्गात आले की त्यांना अभिवादन करण्याची जबाबदारी त्याची होती व ती तो अत्यंत चोख पणे पार पाडत असे.

अजूनही तसाच शांत, अभ्यासू व शिस्तबद्ध असलेल्या कुमार व कुटुंबियांना भविष्यासाठी अनेक अनेक शुभेच्छा.🌹

Kumar ji welcome to the show. I recall meeting Kumar till he finished BSc off and on because of our common friend Girish Dandige. Then after almost 20 years I met him in Tata colony in Dec 2000 when I was visiting my mama who was Kumar’s colleague. He was on the way to the office so we didn’t talk much. The only thing I remember him saying is “ajun tula vaachayla chashma naahi laagat?” Well that was long time ago. However I am wearing the reading glasses as I type this message.😎. Good to reconnect Kumar. Wish you health and happiness.

शाळेत कुमार माझ्या समोर एक बाक सोडून बसायचा. नेहमी औत्सुक्य असणारा, पटकन प्रभावित होणारा, ज्यास्त excitement बाळगणारा कुमार मला चांगलाच आठवतो. इन्स्टिट्यूट ऑफ सायन्स मध्ये तो वेगळ्या सेक्शनला होता आणि एकच वर्ष बरोबर होता. तेव्हा त्याच्या तेथील उपक्रमाबद्दल फारसे माहीत नाही. पोपी कडून थोडेफार कळायचे. त्यावरून ती वर्षे त्याने चांगल्यापैकी एन्जॉय केली असावीत.

इन्स्टिट्यूट मध्ये असताना त्याचा इंजिीअरिंगमध्ये प्रवेश थोडक्यात चुकल्याची गोष्ट त्याने सांगितली होती ते आठवते. b.sc. नंतरही काहीतरी तांत्रिक कारणाने त्याचा प्रवेश हुकणार होता. पण तो मिळाला याची गोष्ट गेल्या भेटीत समजली.

राजीव काळीकर चा अपघाती मृत्यू झाला तेव्हा त्याने मला फोन केला होता. तेव्हा आम्ही (सुश्या आणि मी) भेटलो होतो. पण त्यानंतर आमचा संपर्क तुटला. त्यानंतर एक दिवशी मुंबई एअपोर्टवर एक माणूस मला येऊन भेटला. जो मला चेहऱ्याने ओळखत होता पण मी काही त्याला ओळखले नाही. तो म्हणजे गिरीश दंडीगे. त्याच्या कडून कुमारची हकीकत कळली. कुमार तेव्हा गुजरात मधील एका पॉवर प्लांटचा सीईओ झाला होता.

आता रिटायरमेंट नंतर तो ठाण्याला राहायला आला आहे. एकदा भेट झाली आहे आणि त्यावेळी खूप मजा आली. अशीच परत परत येत जावो ही ईच्छा.

Kumar is the one from this group who has longest uninterrupted association with me and my family after school.

We both were in Chembur since early 80s producing power and fertilizer. After we shifted to Alibag in 1992, our physical closeness reduced but had no impact on close family bonds that continued to flourish.

Our families were present in every special events on both sides. We have seen him maturing in professional and personal life. Though I don’t remember his Nagpur house, I remember all places he lived in Tata colony and Thane. Unfortunately missed Mundra.

I have many many close memories and can keep writing a lot about him.

We all know he is very nice human being, music lover and friend. He also has typical character that keeps everyone around him comfortable under any circumstances and he doesn’t do anything special for the same, it comes naturally for him, ditto as his mother.

He is true mama’s boy. Family bonding between his and his sisters’ families is exemplary. We have so far not discussed about our children on this group, but given the opportunity he has many proud moments to share. I am referring it, so you won’t miss on next meeting.

One important point, I wish he should share with our group is his own accomplished professional career with icing on the cake being his stint as head of Mundra unit.

As I said, I can keep writing but it is best everyone explore individually, special week on this group is only a window and a rejuvenating point in our friendship journey. I wish Kumar-Ruta a happy, healthy and blessed life. On behalf of our group special wishes for his musical journey.

अख्खा आठवडा तुम्हा सगळ्यांशी गप्पा मारण्याचा प्रयत्न केला. खूप छान वाटल. चाळीशी नंतर नीट दिसायला चश्मा लावून काम भागत परंतु आपल्या पंचेचाळीस वर्षा पूर्वीच्या आठवणी ज्याची उजळणी झाली नसते त्यांना बघण्याची किंवा वर आणण्याची क्षमता असलेले साधन अजूनतरी अस्तित्वात नसावं. आपल्या ह्या ग्रुप ची स्थापना करून ह्या मार्फत पुनश्च एकदा आपल्या सगळ्यांना एकत्र आणण्याचे काम प्रमोद, आशुतोष ती खूपच छान निभावलय.

विश्वास, मोहन,अविनाश,सुशील हितेंद्र,श्याम,दिनेश व इतर मंडळींनी ह्या ग्रुप ला निरंतर जाग ठेवल ह्या बद्दल त्यांचं कौतुक करावेसे वाटत. तुम्हा सगळ्यांचे खूप खूप आभार. जरा हा करोना निवळला कि आपण पुन्हा एकदा सगळे भेटूया.

आशुतोष नी माझी पत्नी ऋताला माझ्या बद्दल चार ओळी लिहाव्यात असा विचार मांडला. तो तिने चोख पार पाडला. तिने तर माझं भरपूर कौतुक केलय, अगदी तुम्ही केलत तस. त्या चार ओळी पाठवित आहे.

आशुतोष नी मला कुमार बद्दल लिहायला सांगितले . खर तर मला लिहायचा विशेष सराव नाही ( किंवा येत नाही म्हणणे योग्य ठरेल ) . परंतु कुमार बद्दलच्या भावना व्यक्त करण्या साठी ह्या संधीचा मी लाभ करून घेते.

1985 साली आमच्या सहजीवनाला सुरवात झाली .

कुमारचे थोडक्यात वर्णन करायचे म्हणजे – प्रेमळ, समंजस, हौशी नवरा ,आई – वडिलांची उत्तम काळजी घेणारा मुलगा, बहिणींच्या पाठीशी खंबीर पणे उभा राहणारा भाऊ. मित्र,नातेवाईक सगळयांना हवाहवासा वाटणारा ,समजून घेणारा आणि नेहमीच मदतीचा हात पुढे असणारा दिलदार व्यक्ती!

लग्नानंतर सुरवातीच्या काळात बऱ्याच अडचणी, संकटांचा सामना करावा लागला.बाबांचे छत्र देवाने खुप लवकर हिरावून घेतले . परंतु कुमारने खुप सामंजस्याने आणि समर्थपणे परिस्थिती हाताळली.

कुमारला बाबांकडून उत्तम संगीताचा वारसा लाभला आहे.संगीताची चांगली जाण आहे आणि तो स्वतः उत्कृष्ट तबला वादक आहे.

आमच्या मुलांनाही कुमारने नेहमी योग्य ते मार्गदर्शन केले परंतु निर्णय कधीही मुलांवर लादले नाही .आज आमची दोन्ही मुले यशस्वी उद्योजक आहेत.

कुमारने त्याच्या कंपनीतही स्वकर्तृत्वावर स्वतःचे स्थान निर्माण केले. वेळ – काळ न बघता कामात झोकून द्यायची वृत्ती,सगळ्यांना बरोबर घेऊन काम करणे ह्यामुळे ऑफिसमध्येही त्याने खुप मान मिळवला, लोकप्रियता मिळवली. ह्याचे अनुभव आम्ही बर्‍याचदा घेतले आहेत. कुमारचा प्रामाणिकपणा आणि मेहनत ह्या जोरावर तो कंपनीत CEO ह्या पदापर्यंत पोहचला .आत्तापर्यंत झाले नसेल असे सुंदर farewell त्याला मिळाले. तो अविस्मरणीय अनुभव होता.

असे बहुगुणी व्यक्तीमत्व असलेला नवरा मित्राच्या रुपात मला आयुष्याचा जोडीदार म्हणून मिळाला हे माझे खरोखरीच भाग्य!

आता आमची चार मुले ( मुलगा – सुन आणि लेक – जावई) आणि तीन नातवंड अशा आमच्या सुंदर परिवारा सोबत आमच उर्वरित आयुष्य आम्ही enjoy करीत आहोत.

Inspite of school bonding it becomes difficult to write about anyone in absence of any interactions of more than 40 years अनिलचे अध्याय व कुमार उवाच मालिका make things easy to know more about their achievements in life . That was the reason why I suggested Ruta to write about kumar.

My impression is confirmed by the photos. Our mtg at Pamya’s studio was almost after our school days,so many memories were cherished n lot of sharings alongside our friends.

Your carrier was exemplary n your continuous stay with TATA’s a very special and unique as these days we find most switching jobs for some reason or other.A true Tata man. We missed you at my house during a get-together in presence of narya n joined by dhanya,tilya,Dhamma,pamya etc.as you were travelling.

Soon we need meet along with friends on 🥃🥃🥃 once corona subsides to give a further boost to our association. Wishing you a very healthy n enjoyable life.

सलील – Kumar’s Son. After completing his B Com Started as an Investment Banker while pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst ( USA ) course. He had great love and passion for chess. After initial training in chess, he participated in numerous chess tournaments and won medals. Gradually, he started looking at Chess as his profession and was involved in chess training for kids and organizing chess events across India. One of the initial events he organized in 2008 witnessed 750 players.

He conceptualised the idea of bringing “chess in school”

Beginning with top schools in Mumbai & Bengaluru he stepped up his profession by creating a start up Upstep Academy at Andheri (www.upstepacademy.com). Today the academy caters to his vision to provide world class services in every aspect of Chess with a vision of training, conducting events, Leagues, Online playing besides creating champions in this field.

Salil always strived for Upstep to be a class apart, to project it to the global audience. Through his vast experience and network in the chess field, Salil played a pivotal role in on-boarding Viswanathan Anand for certifying all trainers and students of Upstep through online and offline events.

He also works with the core team of Maharashtra Chess Association in various roles to develop the game of chess in different parts of the state.

He is a key member for team selection and strategy of Pune True Masters – A franchise of Maharashtra Chess League (Viswanathan Anand and Aamir Khan have promoted the league).

Also worked with “Lakshya”, a professionally managed, non-profit organization which nurtures and promotes budding talent in the country, with a vision to achieve Olympic glory.
