Our good friend Mukund is star of the week and I am eager to hear his life story. Mukund came to our class I think in the 9th and was not known to cause any trouble or controversy. Since he worked for AIR I am sure he has many star stories to share. So Mukund bhau, we are waiting eagerly.😊

Dear friends,
I got associated with all of you from 9th standard, as rightly pointed by dear Narendra. I got inducted in service in the year 1983,at Doordarshan Kendra, Nagpur. I had there golden opportunity to participate in two International project.
The first one was entitled, Mother and Child Care, totally sponsored by UNICEF. Mr. Peter Chen, was course Director, representing unicef. We conducted, evaluative and summative Research, by randomly, selecting 100 case studies, from Rural and Urban area, we studied 100 females from post natal to getting conceived, subsequently child birth. And further mandatory exercise their after. The report was prepared on the data and was presented in meeting having participation from eminent personalities in the field, press. It was highly appreciated by unicef and every one.
The second one was project jointly sponsored by AIBD Malaysia, RIDC, Canada, and Doordarshan India. The subject was Child labour, Exploitation of Women, Migration from rural to Urban sector, human settlement. Mr. Alan Bigoda, and Mrs. Roberta Borg were coordinator from these Institutions. We conducted field studies for three months. Since we were required to prepare serial of 21 episodes on TV. We prepared Need Assesment studies, and Audience Profile, which depicts, what actually viewers expect from Doordarshan. On the basis of the evasive data collection. We prepared report. Which was presented before State functionaries, press, and eminent personalities. The entire project was highly acclaimed. Like BBC and ABC, the programmes in India are also research based. Audience Research Unit, functions in all major kendras of Doordarshan. I was posted in audience research unit.
Further in 1990 I got transferred in Civil Construction wing All India Radio. a unit devised by Govt. Of India, to construct Local Radio stations and Low Power transmitters at various prominent cities under Insat IB project under 8th plan. DRS TV set which directly catch signals from satellite📡 were installed beyond the primary range of TV transmitters. And VHF sets were provided within the primary range.
A feed back mechanism of programs was set up by appointment of a custodian whose job was to gather the public for viewing programs based on 20 point programme of govt. Meant for these masses. He was required to collect feed back from the masses and their expectations and send to us, for onward submission to programme planners.
There after I was transferred to AIR yavatmal. I worked there for Two and half years and then I got transferred to AIR Nagpur in 1996. I had longest tenure here. Along with routine assignment I was entrusted with dealing with Court cases, pertaining to service matters, criminal suits, motor accident tribunals , work man compensation, labour court. I was required to keep proper liaison with Government Counsels, as well as Assistant solicitor General appointed at High Court Nagpur.
I have dealt with 35 cases overall in Central Administrative Tribunal, high court, district court CBI special court, Atrocity special court, motor accident tribunal and other legal forums. The department won in 33 cases out of 35. I thoroughly enjoyed the task. Providing information under RTI was also an Herculean task. Conducting of Departmental enquiry was also assigned to me. I conducted different inquiries at various places including one at Vividh bharti, mumbai. Situated in Borivali. Mumbai.
Vividh bharati is located in borivali west, and occupies almost 300 acres of land. Staff quarters are also there. Our AIR TV Maintenance Unit is located here. Practically every day eminent personalities from all walks of life visit the studios for recording. I was fortunate to see few from film industry, sports, music, politics They are very humble polite and down to earth. You can have interaction with them, also can have their autograph.
I was at AIR Akola From 2012 to 2014. Here I would like to share two memories.
Mr. Dange, chief secretary govt. Of Maharashtra came to our station for interview. Those were rainy days. His shoes were covered with mud. He suddenly took out a cherry liquid shoe polish from his kit, and started polishing his shoes. Our programme officer said Sir, you are yourself polishing your shoes. Mr. Dange smiled, and said to him then whose shoe do you polish.
I had one colleague working with me at Akola who use to heavily drink. Even he was coming to office under influence of liquor. My boss was annoyed with him. One day I called him to my chamber. I said look we are working in a cultural organization. Prominent person daily visit our station. Iff the VIP is sitting in a chamber of our boss. If boss calls you there. You will be exposed. This will fetch bad reputation to him as well as organization. Also it amounts to unbecoming of government servant, and violation of conduct rules. I will sit with you in the evening, I will meet the expenses but please do not come to office in a drunken state. To my surprise he never came to office thereafter under drunken state.
Finally in 2014 I got transferred to Doordarshan maintenance centre nagpur, and I got retired as Administrative Officer, in May 2018. Last but not least I would like to share one information. AIR, holds the authority of grading Artists. On the basis of this grading the fee structure of remuneration he is entitled to earn is decided. Lata mangeskar, pandit jasraj, bhimsen joshi and all other music prodigy are AIR graded Artists.
Finally while summing up, I got married in 1985. My wife Alka Divakar Tulankar was also student from Hadas high school. She was serving in Kendriya Vidyalaya Vayusena Nagar. I have One Son Ameya. Who has passed his Electrical Engineering, and is presently working with Thysen krup, a elevator company. OK. Friends Thanks to all of you. With warm regards. Yours sincerely.

Dear Narendra,
after passing the HSSC exam. I did B.SC. I was getting admission for
M. Sc. In Chemistry. I was bit reckless in prosecution of higher studies, and was not much concern about better job prospects. Of course regretting there after, was useless which I did, after precious time passed away. I started initially working as a Chemist in Nagpur steel Alloys. A rolling mill industry. Further I got a job of Medical Representative in a multinational company, I worked there till I started my service in Doordarshan from 15 th November 1983. Since Doordarshan had Govt. Bank Account in SBI, Kingsway Nagpur. I happen to meet Sanjay Girdhar, Avinash Dani, sometimes. I use to enquire about every batch mate, from Sanjay. Sanjay used to narrate about the whereabouts of everyone. He was also helpful to me in speed
bank transactions. I was closely associated with the vishwas family. I had a very high regard about his father. He was gem 💎 of a person, and a great revolutionary. He was the first man in the Orthodox scenario of male-dominated society doing Bhikshukh karma. He was of the opinion that female is also authorized to perform vedic karma. He started coaching classes for females,.and written books like dainandin naimettic pooja. Vishwas father was regularly visiting our place for performing various pooja, and in Navratri. I am still in contact with Vishwas younger brother who is in Nagpur. I was also fortunate to meet Ashutosh always. He use to come to meet Shri fadnis his agency manager. Whose house was located just infront of me. I could also meet Pradeep Diwale frequently. Any way, friends, quite long period has passed away. We are left with only memory to cherish. I thank once again each and every one for their valuable comments, affection, and love. I will remain with you all the time.
